Parents

Parent involvement during their child's time at Kenyngton Manor Nursery & Preschool is very important to us.

Working closely with parents, benefits the children greatly in their learning and development. Having good relationships with families helps us to plan for individuals to progress to their full potential.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

Stay and Play Sessions

We invite all parents to our stay and play sessions each term.  Parents will be sent an invite that will outline a time and date.  A sign-up sheet will be available for you to choose a particular day that suits. These sessions enable you to see the day-to-day life of the nursery and preschool, and join in with the children, to get the best out of their activities.

Joining the stay and play sessions is not the only way to take part in the life of the nursery and preschool.  Parents can offer to share their own interests, skills and abilities with the children. So far, we have welcomed visits from dance, unusual pets and the fire service, who have all shared their particular talents and skills with the children.

Parents are encouraged to drop into the setting to see it at work, or to speak with the staff.

Toy Washing / Washing Dressing-up Clothes

Another way you can help is to stay and help by washing a box of toys or taking a box home.  You can run most toys through the dish washer which also helps get rid of germs because they are washed in hotter water.

If you feel you could help in this way, please speak to Miss Miah, Miss Harris or Mrs Baker.

Dressing up clothes and table cloths also need a wash so if you can squeeze a bag into your washing routine every now and again, please speak to a member of staff who will be very grateful.

Skills and Talents

Tell a member of staff if you have a skill or talent and we will invite you into nursery or preschool to share with the children.

Could you come in to talk to the children about what you do for a living e.g. police force? Help them with some gardening? Teach them some new songs or maybe you speak another language?

Wow Moments on Tapestry

Parents are invited to share with us wow moments of their child on our online learning system, Tapestry. These should be things that they are proud of outside of Kenyngton Manor Nursery & Preschool. This can be anything from 'trying a new vegetable', 'putting a coat on by themselves', 'completing a puzzle' or anything else that is an achievement for your child, no matter how big or small.

Bears

Our resident bears loves to go home with the children and see what they get up to.
Parent’s involvement with this initiative is great for building children's confidence to speak in a group situation when sharing the scrapbook and experiences.

Parent Comments, Complaints and Questionnaires

Every now and then parents are asked to fill in questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of all that we do at Kenyngton Manor Nursery and Preschool.

Parents are invited to leave us comments, compliments or complaints with their child's key person or Nursery Manager at any time and all comments are taken seriously.

Ongoing communication between parents and the key person are encouraged at drop off and pick up times.
